The Faculty Leadership Series at TPI is designed to support faculty and instructors who prepare future school and district leaders through evidence-based, inclusive administrator preparation. This virtual session, Turning Theory into Practice: Effective Strategies to Strengthen Leadership Courses for Tomorrow’s Principals, centers on strengthening leadership preparation programs through IDEA-aligned practices and practical instructional tools that can be applied directly within higher education coursework.

Presented by Sara Evans and Dr. Dena Slanda of AIR’s PROGRESS Center and Lead IDEA, this ninety-minute session introduces faculty to free, research-based resources created to support leadership development and instructional improvement. Participants will explore how Lead IDEA and PROGRESS Center tools can be embedded into Administrative Credential and Educational Leadership programs to better prepare future principals to implement IDEA, support inclusive school environments, and maintain high expectations for students with disabilities across diverse learning contexts.

Through this Faculty Leadership Series session, participants will examine strategies that move leadership preparation beyond theory and into practice. The discussion highlights approaches to building a sense of belonging, strengthening instructional leadership, and supporting evidence-based decision-making in schools. Faculty will gain actionable ideas they can apply directly to course design, instructional methods, program alignment, and ongoing improvement within leadership preparation pathways.

This event is designed for faculty and instructors seeking to strengthen administrator preparation and increase the overall impact of leadership programs. By participating in the Faculty Leadership Series, attendees will gain access to practical strategies, high-quality resources, and guidance that supports the next generation of principals in leading inclusive, effective, and accountable schools.

The event takes place on February 24 from 12:00 pm to 1:30 pm PST and will be held virtually.
